"Chaos is the first step in the creative process”
-Jill Bolte Taylor

Being an entrepreneur comes with its fair share of hilarious adventures, especially when it comes to planning and executing events.

From the frantic rush to order products on time to the mad scramble of loading up the car and the chaos of setting up and tearing down at the event, these moments are filled with laughter and unexpected surprises. So, get ready to dive into the wild and wacky world of event management for entrepreneurs!

Ordering Products, The Race Against Time:

As an entrepreneur preparing for an event, one of the most critical tasks is ordering the products you’ll be selling or showcasing. However, life has a funny way of throwing curveballs your way. You find yourself hitting the “Buy Now” button in a panic, praying that the delivery arrives on time. And of course, there’s always that moment of panic when you realize you accidentally ordered twice the amount of products you needed. Oops! Looks like you’ll have to get creative with some last-minute marketing tactics.

The Great Car Loading Challenge:

Ah, the thrill of loading up your car with all the event essentials. You carefully strategize the placement of your products, displays, and equipment, only to discover that it’s a game of Tetris gone wrong. You find yourself squeezing items into every nook and cranny, praying that everything fits. As you close the trunk, you take a step back, admiring your masterpiece. It may not be the most elegant packing job, but hey, if it works, it works!

The Comedy of Setup:

Setting up at the event venue is where the real entertainment begins. As you unload your car, you realize that you’ve of course forgotten some essential tools or parts. Cue the improvisation skills! You find yourself MacGyvering solutions with duct tape, zip ties, and whatever else you can find. And let’s not forget the endless battle with tangled cables and wires. Who knew untangling knots could become an Olympic-level sport?

Branding for the win:

Amongst all the chaos, there was one part that went well: branding!  Since I had my brand guidelines all set, it was very plug, play, and presto!  It was so nice to have my neon sign, my business cards, my apron and all my brand assets already set. Otherwise even the pricing sheets would have been a nightmare to design. Reminder for those starting out: get your branding set.  Logo, signs, messages, color, etc all matter.  This all helps out your brand image and makes everything cohesive.  Don’t let your branding turn into chaos when you need it the most.

((Hint, Hint: Let me know if you’d like help with your branding!!))

The Tear-Down Tango:

After a successful event, it’s time to pack up and head home. But just when you thought the chaos was over, the tear-down process throws in a few surprises of its own. You find yourself disassembling displays like a puzzle, wondering how on earth you managed to put it all together in the first place. And as you load up the car once again, you can’t help but question if it’s bigger on the inside like the TARDIS. It’s a true test of spatial reasoning and patience.

The Unexpected Moments:

Amidst all the chaos, there are always those unexpected and hilarious moments that make the event truly memorable. From wardrobe malfunctions to impromptu dance parties with fellow vendors, these spontaneous and lighthearted interactions bring a sense of camaraderie and laughter to the event.

Preparing for an event as an entrepreneur is undoubtedly a comedy of chaos and creativity. From the mad rush of ordering products on time to the Tetris-like challenge of loading up the car and the hilarious moments of setup and teardown, every step of the process is filled with laughter, surprises, and a touch of improvisation. So, embrace the unexpected, roll with the punches, and remember to find joy in the humorous moments that make event management a truly unique and entertaining experience. After all, a good sense of humor is an entrepreneur’s secret weapon!
